Tower HAmlets
Tower Hamlets is home to 36,600 10-19 year olds. 47% of under 18s live in poverty, making it the poorest borough of London. It is ethnically rich in diversity, with only 23% of the population being White British.
The young people of Tower Hamlets face many challenges - culture shock, education, gang culture, family responsibilities, poverty and relational poverty.
Young Life Tower Hamlets exists to build trusted, long-term friendships with young people — earning the right to share the good news of God’s love in ways that are culturally aware, respectful, and rooted in love.
We are convinced that every teenager in Tower Hamlets deserves to experience love, care and friendship. That's why Young Life International staff and leaders go out to young people across East London, showing God's love, welcoming young people just as they are and helping them grow in character and leadership.
Since its beginnings in the USA in 1941, Young Life has been making a difference in the lives of young people around the world due to the invitation and support of adults who care. Young Life is present in over 100 countries reaching over 2 million young people with the inclusive and life-changing message of God's hope, peace, grace and love for them.
